Why TMail 98?
-------------
Because it gives you the possibilty to send e-mails without even opening your mail program! You don't have to start it to write one simple e-mail - and then close it again.
To see if your mail program can be used by TMail 98 just run "mailto:" on your command line.
How does TMail 98 work?
-----------------------
Simply enter "mailto:" at the command line in Windows 95/98. This will open a new message window in your mail program, without even having to start the program.
This simple MAPI feature is well known in HTML browsers. Click on a mailto-link in IE or Netscape - it will open a new message window. This function however was only available from inside the browser. As IE 4 became a fixed part of the operating system the mailto-function did so as well. This may also be the reason why TMail 98 seems to work only on systems with IE 4 and Outlook Express.
Changing the icon and reconfiguring the mouse
---------------------------------------------
You have the possibility to use any icon you want. TMail 98 will save the icon's location on your hard drive and read it any time it is started. This means that if you usa an icon other than the default, you cannot delete or move it away, or Tmail 98 won't find it. The default icon is then used and no warning message is displayed.
You can currently only chose between double click and single and double click. These features are to be expanded in future versions. :)
TMail 98 saves its settings only if you choose "Save settings" from the menu. If you quit the program with unsaved new settings you will be asked to save. TMail 98 does not ask you to save if you shut down Windows! So don't forget to save your changes before exiting Windows.
System requirements
-------------------
TMail 98 was written in Visual Basic. This means that you need the usual libraries installed on your system. If some libraries are missing on your computer you can search for them here.
There have been reported some problems related to COMDLG32.OCX. Not every version seems to work. A version that is known to work correctly is 6.00.8052 (137'488 bytes).
The program works under Windows 95 and Windows 98, both running Internet Explorer 4.x and Outlook Express. Other mail programs may work as well.
